Will Smith And Martin Lawrence Prepare For Bad Boys Sequel
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are preparing to start work on the sequel to their hit movie Bad Boys - despite there being no script ready yet. The actors met with producer Jerry Bruckheimer about the project recently to negotiate plans for the film. Bruckheimer says, "We discussed a whole bunch of ideas for the film, and now it's a matter of getting them on paper. They're excited about the project and want to make it, but it's a matter of getting the script right." The original idea was to have the two stars going to London this time around. Once there, they would apprehend a chemist with ties to a drug kingpin. But that idea has now been scrapped. Bruckheimer explains, "We'll keep the action in Miami."
Though that may seem a rhetorical question, it nonetheless appears to have an answer, which is: Make a sequel, script be damned.
Living up to parodies of itself, Hollywood is raging ahead full speed on a sequel to the Will Smith/Martin Lawrence cop actioner "Bad Boys", and they aren't letting a small detail like the lack of a screenplay get in the way of progress. This, of course, implies that the original Michael Bay mess actually had a script.
Jerry Bruckheimer, king producer of mindless mayhem, says: "We discussed a whole bunch of ideas for the film, and now it's a matter of getting them on paper. They're excited about the project and want to make it, but it's a matter of getting the script right."
So far the list of "ideas" undoubtedly looks something like this: 1.) Establish bad guy. 2.) Car chase, with major property damage. 3.) Will and Martin curse, ad-lib and mug for camera. 4.) Ear-splitting gunfight. 5.) Thundering hip-hop soundtrack. 6.) HUGE explosion, bad guy is killed.
The film's action will reportedly once again take place in Miami, a city Will liked enough to write a catchy ditty about. One thing's for sure: after Lawrence's past couple of stiffs, getting his ass back into a successful franchise sure couldn't hurt...
